While my main job description at Bizport was the operation and fulfillment of their digital printing department, I was occasionally tasked with supporting their marketing efforts by creating new eye-catching designs that promoted their services.
Having access to white ink and wide-format flatbed printing technology was integral to the effectiveness of many of the pieces you see here. Many were explicitly made to showcase the unique features of the HP Indigo and HP Scitex systems.

Most printers see white as nothing – it tells them nothing is to be printed there. So in order to print on something like Neenah Epic Black paper, you have to do some modifications to the output screens in order to make the machine cooperate...
The wild red copy of that image you see is how the white ink "screen" is applied as spot color information that the printer can read.
Any color will do for the spot designation. If you look close you’ll notice its almost a photo negative of the facsimile. Everywhere that was black on the final output has to be treated as “white” to the printer in order for it to understand not to put ink there.
